Summary Summary Chapter 2
-A bride’s maid breath-
Warning signs: trickery
• The Listerine ad’s in 1923 manipulated the fears and insecurities of us all "often a bridesmaid but never a bride- because poor Edna’s breathe was so offensive, even your best friend won't tell you.”
A.) The ad spoke to the public in the unspoken message of fear.
Warning sign: if it’s scary be wary:
• FUD=”fear uncertainty, and doubt”
• Bushes day of horror
A.) The 2003 invasion of Iraq was a use of the FUD , Bush’s State of the Union address of January 28th 2003 said Saddam was pursuing weapons of Mass destruction and invited the public to imagine what would happen if Saddam had given any weapons to the 911 hijackers.
B.) 71 percent supported it three days before the war began , when a poll was taken March 17th , 2003
C.) As we all know now Saddam had destroyed the weapons of mass destruction years earlier, after months of searching produced nothing.
Warning: Story too good to be true:
• A claim seems too good it should be a warning sign until we get a closer look at the evidence.
Warning: A dangling comparative:
• Words like, “Larger” “better” “higher” are an effort for advertisers and politicians to stand out more among the opponent.
A.)2004 George w bush TV ads said john Kerry supported higher taxes over 350 times, one would think this means Kerry raises taxes at an alarming number of times, when in fact it meant bush counted every time Kerry had cast against a proposed tax cut.
Warning sign: The superlatives Swindle:
• “Most”, “Highest”, are used often by politicians .Like in 2004 a pro-bush group ran a TV ad asking “has any president been dealt a tougher hand?”
• Yet Lincoln and Roosevelt were dealt much tougher hands.
• Superlative claims can lead us to make shallow and silly political decisions.
Warning sign: “Pay you Tuesday”:
• Pay you Tuesday should raise concern.
• You get what you want “the hamburger” if you vote for the right one.
• Democrats always promising social programs without talking of the future tax costs
• Republicans will reduce the taxes but are quite on deficits and program cuts.
Warning sign: The blame Game:
• President Bush believes the “greedy” lawyers are to blame for the rising health care costs.
• He insisted doctors ordered tests that were needless so they would not get sued; it was costing taxpayers at least 28 billion a year.
• Bush was pointing fingers at the unpopular group “lawyers” to take away attention from him.
Warning sign: Glittering generalities:
• Most popular glittering generality among politicians is “middle class”
• Bush did support the middle class, but richer families got a lot more in the “Tax Cut’s”

I really liked how you listed your points. I will use this as an examlpe for future summaries. This was much easier to follow than mine. Thank you also for clarifying what happened to chapter 1.
Jadyn
good but
The details are all pretty much there. Were each of the warning signs to be written out as a complete sentence, then it would be better still, much easier for your reader to make sense of things. Bradley
You did a good job touching
You did a good job touching on the major points. This should help you when we craft the essays. If you have a point to make, you can just go down your list to give examples.
I should think about doing it this way next time.
You did a good job
You did a good job summarizing the major details for chapter 2. But where is chapter 1? You also might want to stick to just one format so it's a little easier to follow.

yeah
chapter 1 is way down a bit. I did it a few days ago. I did not post them together as I should had.
