Regarding the seven tactics for developing a cult outlined in Age of Propaganda, the descriptions of each tactic provided sound similar to the way many religions have been set up. On a basic level, religions, especially new age religions, share many of the same qualities with cults. Even though notorious cults extremist ways have been more publicized (eg. dont drink the kool-aid), recognized religions also have events in their history that can match the cults heinous incidents.
