Whitman, uses different types of rythyms with in his writings of the poem we read song of myself. The way he does this is how he trasfers from one parts of the poem to the next. constantly changing the setting and constantly changing who he is talking about. Also assuming different characters.
I also think he does a good job a creating types of illsuions that can create that constant movie you have in your head when you are reading a book. Which can come in handy when reading whitman because he does tend to go all over the place with his writting.
One think i dont quite understand is what was the need of having the poem be so long? I understand that it is several poems in one but wouldnt it have the same meaning of socitey?
As for Davis, her writing styles is more fluent than one might say Whitmans is just for the fact that she tends to have better illusions or a way of creating them for the reader. She doesnt jump around as much as whitman does either which makes the narritive easier to read compared to the poem.

I think that davis does a good job in creating a solid image in a person's mind. From the beginning, she goes off and explains things in great lengths and detail as to inform the reader and show the iron mills to the best of her ability. AS for Whitman, he does constantly change. In his poem, Song of Myself, he goes on to give different hymns so to speak as to explain different aspects of America itself.
